Wairoa County Estimates. The total of the Wairoa County estimates for the year ended March 31, 1938, is £37,334 10/-. The receipts in sight to meet this expenditure total £19,042 10/-, leaving the sum of £18,792 to be provided by rates. This will involve a xate of l|d in the £. Business Girls' Club. Ihe usual fortnigl j / meeting of the Waipawa Business ^irls' Club, was held last evening, Miss J. McKay presiding over a fair attendance of members. Following the tea a series oi competitive games were held, Miss B. Kingston and Miss R. Baker making a dead heat for first place, and in the play-off Miss Baker won. Woodwork Classes. The woodwork classes commenced by the Waipawa Technical Association some four weeks ago under the direction of Mr J. liiddles, have proved very popular and the membership now stands at 14. The association has now mado.arrangements with the Education Department to hold the classes on two nights in egch week, commencing as from Thursday next. Children's Party. " Prfor to the departure of Mr and Mirs W. E. Yates and family from Waipawa, Miss Jf. Bibby held a most enjoyable children's- party at her home for Master Herbert Yates. A very pleasant time was spent with games, and a delightful supper was provided by Miss Bibby. During the evening Master Yates was presented with a hook from his class mates in the Presbyterian Sunday School. WrestHng for Waipawa. Arrangements have been finalised for the staging in the near future in the Munieipal Theatre, Waipawa, of a wrestling bout between "Bombai" Wells, of Napier, and Anton Koolman, "of Wellington, for the light-heavy-weight championship of New Zealand. This will be the first professional wrestling bout ever staged in Waipawa. institute Card Tourney. The Takapau Women's Institute's "50Q" card tournament was very largely attended, and the evening, the first of the series to be held during the winter nionths, was most successful. The prizes were won as follows: Ladies, Mrs Bould 1, Mrs JEtobertson, consolation; gentlemen, Mr Tipene 1, Mr C. Olsen, consolation. The members of the Institute seived. supper, after which an enjoyable time was spent in dancing. ,
