WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

Hattfma Meeting The Hatuma Women's Institute held a very interesting monthly meeting in the Hatuma Hall. There were 33 members present, Miss Allan presiding. Apologies were received from Mesdames S. A. Robinson, G. Kennedy, C. B. Lowes, M. H. Collins, Molloy and Misses Shand (2). The meeting opened with the Ode, followed by the Aspirations. A letter was received from the Link, Ballinay (England), congratulating the Institute on again winning the Ormond Shield. It was deeided to hold the annualj card party, the date to be arrangedt later, and members were reminded that the July meeting woudl be husbands' evening. The Golden Thread series' was continued, Mrs Carey being the speaker, who took for her subjeet, "The Dictajtors of Europe." Mrs Carey, who is a fluent speaker, was listened to with rapt interest, the members expressing a de» sire for her to speak again in the near future. / A demonstration on cake deeorations was given by Mrs Shore, of Masterton, this being of much interest to all present. The competitions for the month resulted: — Article made from one yard of cretonne, Mrs Molloy 1, Miss Edgar 2, Miss J. Allan 3. Most attractive gelatine dish, Miss Nola Williams 1, Mrs Riddle 2, Miss M. Simmons 3. Lvst bloom, Mrs Howard 1, Miss Riddle 2 and 3. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Bayliss, Brunton, Misses Anderson and J. Allan.
