Successful Bazaar, The Presbyterian bazaar and sale ot work held at Waipawa on Tuesday last was most successful/ the day's takings amounting to over £60. Electrio Ranges. Enquiries for electric ranges have been exceptionally numerous with the Central Hawke's Bay Electric Power Board of late. So far during June nine were sold and residents in various parts of the board' s area are seeking information about ranges. Motorist's Misfortune. Thick mist and torrential rain on the Porangahau Hill on Thursday evening made visibility so bad that Mr. T. O'Connor had the misfortune to run his car into the ditch on the roadside. Eortunately he chose the bank side, as on the other there is a drop of several hundred feet. The car was not removed until yesterday morning. Electricity at Springhill.Siettlers in the Springhill district may look forward to having electricity m the near future. The Central Hawke's Bay Electric Power Board has carted 'some concrete poles to that district, in pursuance of its extension programme. Burnside, too, is receiving atteaition, poles having been left there in anticipation of line-work being carried out in the near future. Waipawa School, At the monthly meeting of the Hawke's -Bay Education Board held at Napier yesterday a leiter was received from the Department, intimating*'that a grant has been approved to cover the cost of ereetion of a six-roomed school building on the open-air principlo at Waipawa. The Department regrets that it cannot see its way clear t» provide a concrete basketball area, anci the amount allowed for this has been deleted. Similarly the amount of £50 for other ground improvements, jucluding slielter trees, has been deleted. It was decided to urge the Department to reinstate the grant for the basketball court and the ground improvements. Fine-weather Colfers.
