BAZAAR AND SALE OF WORK

Waipawa Presbyterian Church
WAIPAWA, This Day. The annual bazaar and sale of work an aid of the funds of the Waipawa Presbyterian Church, held in the Municipal Concert Hall on Tuesday afternoon and evening, proved most successful, excellent business being reported by all stall-holders. The bay show run in conjunction with the bazaar had created a great deal of interest, with the result that the entries were very large indeed. The results in this connection were as follow: - Baby, under 6 months, Douglas MacGregor and Sheena Mclntosh (equal) 1, Donald Beck 2, Audrey Johnston 3, Patricia Bushett 4; 6-12 months, Mollie Milna 1, Jim Kerr 2; 12-18 months, John Gamby 1; 18 months2 years, John Walker 1. Matron Bridge and Miss Jones acted as judges, and the arrangements for the show were carried out by Mrs Milne. The stall-holdens were:- Sweet stall, Mrs Bryant and Miss Frobath; produce, Mesdames Edwards and MacDonald; plain stall, Mesdames Annand and Mitchell, jnr.; fancy stall, Mesdames Pepperell and Furminger; cake stall, Mesdames Bond and Boatwood; jumble stall, Mesdames Noell, Harris and MacPherson; tea-rooms, Mesdames Strang, Logan, Collins and Misses Lang and McCleary. A number of competitions, organised by Mr D. Chalmers, were held at the evening session, creating a great deal of interest and amusement. Prizes were won by Mr J. Yates (cushion), Mr A. Walker (chocolates), Mr F. Eagle (apron), Mr L. Cossar (tea cosy and hot water bottle), Mr E. MacGregor (tea cloth), Mr J. Walker (tea cloth), Mr E. Waldrom (work basket and towels), "Peter and Paul" c/o Mrs Grenside (iced cake).
