WA1.BU.K.UKAU, This Day. Mr. W. H. Eathbone presided over the following members at the monthly meeting of the Waipawa Hospital Board held at Waipukurau yesterday: — Mesrss. D. W. Nield, W. Matthews, G. j Warren, C. Thomson, D. Eddy, N. G. j Hawthorne, P. R. Smyrk (managing- | seeretary), Dr. W. B. Fisher (medical superintendent of the Waipukurau District Hospital), and Dr. P. C. Anderson (medical superintendent at Pukeora Sanatorium). Leave of absence was granted Messrs. T. P. Hunter and L. Glenny. A letter was received from Dr. L. G. Bell, who has resigned from the position of resident medical officer at the Waipukurau Hospital, expressing appreciation of the consideration given him by the members of the board. — Dr. Bell ceased duties yesterday, and prior to his leaving New Zealand at the end of the month for England, is going to be married. The chairman, Mr. i W. H. Eathbone, spoke very highly of Dr. Bell and his work while at the Waipukurau Hospital, and his motion that a testimonial be sent to Dr. Bell was carried. Letters of appreciation of attontion and treatment given to patients at the Waipukurau District Hospital were received by the board from Mrs. N. Boyle, Mr. B. G. McLeod, and the Waihi Hospital Board. Twenty-four applications were received for the position of clerk in the head office of the board. The appointpient of Mr. E. W. T. Brookes, of i Napier, was approved. The following committees were elected: — Finance, Messrs. W. H. Eathbone, T. P. Hunter, D. Eddy, and D. W. Nield; fees and social welfare, Messrs. W. H. Eathbone, W. Matthews, G. Warren, C. Thomsen, L. Glenny, and N. G. Hawthorne; Park Island, Messrs. W. H. Eathbone and D. Eddy.
