LONDON, June 15. The outstanding gnthering of the New Zealand Society 's earcer was the Coronation dinner and ball at the Savoy Hotel, when 400 were present. , Mr Jordan, proposing the health of ; the guest of honour, Rt. Hon. M. J. j Savage, said that no man worthier had ■ reached his goal. His impelling desire 1 was to be of service and assistance to j his generation. No one was more fitted j to lead .the Government because he was i animated by sympathy, sincerity and..; ability. He had given weighty " Assistance to the Imperial Conference and had fruitfully served, not only the j Dominion, but the Empire. | Mr. Savage, responding, said that. I j Mr. Jordan and he doubtless, were once j regarded as lunatics, but the people ; were beginning to realiae that there , was something in what they advocated. i New Zealand owed a lot to Britaiif.' I Some new.spapers said that they were • not good enough to live up to the responsibility. He challenged such ; | people in the years to come to say that ; I they let them down. "We will honour every obligation • and only ask for a fair dea.l,'' said Mr. ; Savage. "Ours is a simple philosophy: every shilling Britain spends in.
