The secretary. htr Chas, Douglas, in a fcw well-chosen words, wished Mr Thornton and his future bride the. best of luck and happincss, and said that Mr Thornton, who had been a very popular member of Ihe staiT, would be vojy much niissed by his fellowwnrkcrs. ]Mr Thornton suitably replicd. The prcscntation took llic form of a wood-box, fire-screen, and curb in brass ware. Mr Fred Benson, on behalf of the graiu-store staif, also made a present of a set of carvers.
