LIBRARY EXTENSION

Proposal Before Council A proposal for the extension of the quarters now occupied by the Hastings

Public Library in the Municipal Buildings was placed before the Hastings Borough Council last evening. Thej matter is to reeeive consideration later. The estimated cost is £230. A report and plan were submitted by Mr S. G. Chaplin of the proposed alterationa to the library to take in the premises at present occupied by the Hawke's Bay Electric Power Board, The proposals do not call for any struetural alterations. On the recommendation of the library committee' it was decided to approve of the proposals but that further consideration should be giveu the matter when the estimates for the year were under review.
