Waipukurau County Ridings

WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. Comments upon road repair work carried out during the past month are made by the engineer to the Waipukurau County Council, Mr R. B. Price, in his report adopted at to-day's meeting. In the three ridings most of the roads are in very fair order. "During the month a fair amount of work has been done on riding roads in the way of cutting shoulders and removmg the material and the roada dealt with have been much improved," he said in regard to the Hatuma riding. , "Two small culverts have been replaced on the W aipu kura u-Hatu m a highway and several other • short -culverts have been extended. The grader has raked in shingle and trimmed roads generally throughout the riding. To keep the Lower Gorge road in order it may be necessary to treat it with a iiglit coat of metal at an early date. "Mt. Herbert Riding. — Early in the month. a traction engine liauling on Racecourse highway damaged the priming coat and the persons concerned have forwarcled a letter adniitting liability. It appears certain that the sealing of this road .will be held over as the contractor is making slow progress with his supply of chips. The grader has worked four days on riding roads and two on main higliways raking in shingle and is at present engaged cutting shoulders on Mangatarata road. Purimu Riding. — The roads in this riding are in very fair order and liave been much improved by removing the grass shoulders by means of grading.,"
