KING'S DAY HOCKEY
H.B. Association's Annual Tournament BIG ENTRIES EXPECTED A special meeting of the King's Birthday tournament committee of the Hawke 's Bay Hockey Association, presided over by Mr A. D. Mahoney, was he'ld last evening, when further matters in connection with this annual 11--a-side tourney were completed. . The Hastings Eugby Rub-Union wrote approving the appiication for the eole riglxt to Nelson Park, Hastings, on Wednesday, June 9, and the Borougk Council granted the appiication subject to this approval. Arrangements were completed for three grounds to i5e set out, and the first games must start at 9.30 a.m. sharp. Uorxespondenco was rcceived from clubs iu the Wairoa, Manawatu and Dannevirke distriets intimating their intention to enter teame. All teams are warned that the entrance fees must accompany their nominations. The question oi playing games to 10 or 15-minute periods was neld over pending the compietion of entries at 5 p.m. to-day (fclaturday). It was deeided to hand over ail arrangements to the Hawke 's Bay Uinpires' Association after the draw had been completed. A sub-committee was appointed to co-operate with the umpires' committee. Any tlireo of Messre Poppelwell, Hayes, Wallis and Rurgenor or their ltomiuees were eleeted as the protest and emergency committee. Mr H. Duwling was appointed to receive all fcaturday teams ' nominations. Tho question of refreshments at the park was referred to tho secretary. All teams competing in tlie tournament are requested to nieet outside the Nelson Park gates between 9 a.m. and 9.15 a.m. and enter as a body. This would save confusion for tlie gatekeepera
