ELSTHORPE ENTERTAINMENT
The seventh annual birthday party of the Elsthorpe Women's institute was held in ihe hall, and it t »ok the forrn of a concert and dance. The large rudienco thorojghly appreciutod the most succcteful evening, which did credit to - the organisers. Before the concert programms began, Mrs J. Sutherland, vice-president, extended a cordial welcome to tho meafolk and the visitors. Tho foliowiug performers f.ook part in the concuiv.--Miss B. linton, songp and piaco solos; Miss J. Cheex, songs; Mies Lsta Brinson, tap dances; Mr Davies, humorous recdtations ; and • choruses by members of the Women's Institute. Two playreadings were given by institute members. At the conclusion of the concert programme, Mrs O. Williams, president, expressed pleasure at the large attendance, which showed that Ihe Women's Institute was being appreciated. Mrs Williamls then presented the polnts prizes won during the year: Mrs W. Watson, jnr. 1, Mrs Nuttall 2, Mrs Boese 3, Miss O. Borden 4. Miss O. Borden also Teceived a specfal points prize awarded to junior members. Miss, A. Macaulay then presented a posy to Mrs Williams from . institute members. After a delightful supper, the remainder of the evening was spent in dancdng to music supplied by the local musicians. Mrs A. Thompson capably controlled the floor. A featnire of the supper was the beautiful institute birthday cake made and iced by Mrs F. Lissette. Before the dance en'ded Mr A. McGaffin congratulated the members of the Women Is Institute on the fine evening which the visitors had enjoyed immensely, and expressed their appreciation of the organisers' efforts,
