Fonnation of Branch in Wairoa

WAIRUA, Last Night. A meeting of the provinqial Red CrosB "Committee was held at the Rest Room and Plunket quarters, there being in attendance: Mesdames Murray, Har-' ker, A. G. Nolan, M. B. Svensen, N. Hislop, J. S. Wilson, R. Bryant, Gemmell, Misses E. Coad, E. I. Whitta, Dahm., Rev. Fatber Doherty, •Messrs. R. A. Peez, . Dryden, V. E. Winter, J. F. Houghton, M. Gemmell and the Town Clerk. Mr. H. Harker, Mayor, took the chair, and al'ter apologising for the unavoidable absence of Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Carroll, Mrs. Simpson, Mrs. Houghton and Mrs. Pepper, said that Mr. and Mrs: Carroll were proposed to Jook after the uative side of the work. The Mayor further added that the business for. the evening was to elect the permanent officials. Already great mterest was being taken in the society by the people* he was sorry there was not a bigger representation from the scbools, as the junior work should greatly appeai to parents and children alike, but no doubt that interest also would grow, Mr. Harker was elected patron, and Mr. Glengarry chairman of the exeeutive. The executive was appointed as follows: — Mesrs. R. A. Peez, M. J. Gemmell. J. J. IMillar (for R.S.A.), A. T. Carroll, Mesdaines A. G. Nolan, H. L. Harker, M. Hislop. G. L. Wilson, J. Ross (for Plunket Society, or per nominee) , R. Bryant, M. B. Svensen, Rev. Father Doherty. Drs. Hallwright and Jardine were appointed as advisers, and Mr. R. Dryden as treasurer. (
