Biggest Gas Holder to be Built by Ford

DEARBORN, Mich. — The Ford Motor Company has announced plans for the construetiOn at the Rouge plant of a new 2,500, 000-cubic foot gas holder, the largest of its kind in United States ipdustry. The new holder, which is expected to be ready for use in late summer, along with the company 's new 10,000,000 cubic foot holder on which construction was begun some time ago will storn blast furnace gas. Completion of tho two holders will round out an extensive revision of the Ford Rouge plant 's gas handling system designed to keep pace with the inc'reased fuel needs of the increased production programme. The holder will have a diameter of 128 feet and rise 225 feet into the air, as tall as an 18-story building. It will be of all-welded construction> of the water! ess, center-coiumn type.
