CLIVE GROUP

A well-attended monthly meeting of the Clive Women's Iinstitute was held in the Clive Hall and was presided over by Mrs Gregory, in the absence of the president. The meeting took the form of a Coronation meeting, ihe hall being gaily decorated with red, white and blue streamers and photos of the Royal Family. The evening opened with the singing of the National Anthem, after which the Women's Institute song was sung and the aspiration read. Nine new members were proposed and accepted. A resume of the Hawke's Bay Federation meeting was. given in rhymo, being composed by Mrs Powell. The golden link for June .was left in the hands of Miss Pean. The handicraft competition, "Sausage Rolls," resulted1 Mrs Prince 1, JHs Bliss 2. Best bloom competition: Mrs Frank Merritt 1, Mrs Prince 2. A competition was arranged by Mrs Fenwick and was won by Miss B. Dean, Mrs Fenwick kindly donating the prize. A dainty hand-round supper was' served. by Mesdames Coupe and Dyett, who were the hostesses for the evening, A very enjoyable evening was brought to a close by the singing- of the National Anthem.
