KOTEMAORI MEETING
The May meetdng of the Kotemaori Women 's institute was held in the hall on Thursday, Mrs. Harris presiding over a good attendance. The. president expressed the Institute Je sympathy with Mrs. Hulse and family in their roceut bereaveinent. Thrce visitors wore woJconu'd and (he roll call, "Uses of vinegar," brought l'orth many useful hints. Mrs. S. Jones, delegate to the Northern Hawke's Bay Council meeting gave a most interesting report and was accorded a hearty vote of tlianks. The convenors of the gardening and sewing circles then read reports on their month 's activities. The arrangements for the danee to be held on May 29 wero finalised. In the absence of Mrs. Haliburton, Miss Haliburton read her five-mdnute "Golden * Thread," and was accorded
a hearty vote of thanks. An amusing team game, "Fanning the Kipper," caused much merriment, winners and losera being treated to a packet of sweets by Mrs. Harris. Ab it was pound day for the Hawke 's Bay Children 'e Home a number of useful articles were received. The visitors kfindly judged the apple short -cake competition. which resulted: Mrs. Harris I, Mrs. Foster 2, Miss Haliburton 3. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Gavin and Miss Haliburton. A community sing was then enjoyed by all and the singing of the National Anthem brought an interesting meeting to a closo.
