Father Sentenced to Five Years

, AUCKLAND, Last Night. "It is very difficult fo imagine , a worse case than this one," said Mr. I Justice Fair when Alan Sydney Saunders was placed, in the dock at the Gupreme Court charged with incest. "In considering the fact3 placed before me I have given considoration to the question whether flogginug should not be imposed in order .to prevent offences of this kind. If a man's natural feelings are not sufficient to rostrain him repeating this type of off ence it appears he can only be deterred by the fear of physical punish- I ment," added the Judge. The priaoner, who had admitted fhe offence, had been committed from Kaitaia. The sentence of the Court was I five years' hard labour, A sentence of one year's hard labour concurrent' with the first sentence was imposed on a further charge of indecent assault on a female.
