AUCKLAND, Last Night. The body of Frank Ross, of Grey j Lynn, who disappeared on Friday afternoon while working in a manhole leading into the main sewer at Mount Albert, was discovered at noon, when a detailed survey of the sewer was enabled owing to the subsidence of the stormwater which had flooded the sewer since Thursday. ' The flow in the branch sewer, which Mr Eoss had entered, was diverted and a man was sent in to make an examination. He fonnd the body wedged in the swan-neck bend between the branch pipe and the main sewer and a gang was immediately detailed to ' dig a shaft immediately above the point where the body was located. . This is on a vacant section of land and a difficult task is ahead of the men. When they reaeh the sewer they will have to cut through the concrete casing as well as the earthenware pipe. - ' The body was located 180 feet from where Mr Ross entered the manhole. An examination of the concrete work at the point of entry by an engineer revealed that Mr Eoss had evidently struck his head while' coming out of the shaft and had fallen backwards into the sewer, a distance of some eight feet. The flow at the time was fast owing to the storm water and his chances of escape even if he were no.t injured were slight. t
