WAIPUKURAU, This Day. In a hard-fought game at Central Park, Waipukurau, on Saturday, Takapau feeored a good win over Porangahau by 16 points to 3. With both packg of forwards fairly evenly matched, the game for the greater part was a fcrward one, but there were occasional Cashcs of back play. The teams were as follow: Takapau (red and black): Heperi, R. Aldrich, A. Aldrich, Cowan, Halliday, Grierson, Wright, Harrison, Thomsen, Maaka, Bell, Edgecombe, Johnson, Marshall, Craig. Porangahau (green and black): L. Kuru, Petuha, Ross, Cochrane, Scott, A. Kutu, Bassett, Pahi, Tibble, Scia Scia, E. Cook, McDonald, Scia Scia, H. Ceok, F. Harris. The finst score came after a strong attack by Takapau. A. Aldrich seciu*ed. the ball and dived over for a try which was converted by Halliday. Ta? xapau 5, Porangahau 0. Porangahau forwards took a turn at attacking but were stopped on the Takapau line. Takapau eleared and Halliday added further points to the score -with a good penalty goal. The score at half-time was: Takapau 8, Porangahau 0. On resumpition of play Cook And Tibble were prominent in a forward tu'sE which took play into the Takapau territory. Play fluctuated in Taka.pau's half for a period until E. Kuru dived over and opened Porangahau 's score. The try was'" not converted. Tokapau 8, Porangahau 3. A good Tun down the line by Cowan again put Takapau in a good position. Cowan scored shortly after, following a ruccessful back movement. The fextra points were added ,by Halliday. Takapau 13, Porangahau 3. • Thomsen started a mOvement whicli was followed by a try by Halliday, well out. The try was not converted, and time was called shortly after with the scores reading: — ' Takapau 16 Porangahau 3 Mr C. Woodward xefereed. Junior Grade Waipukurau H.S.O.B. (9) beat Te Aute (6). Porangahau (9) beat Otane (3). Waipukurau (34) beat Takapau B (0). Third Grade Takapau (9) defeated Waipukurau (5).
