The South African Prime Mnister, General Hertzog, said: "In connection vith South Africa raising eonstitutiona] juestions at this conference, I am as jlad as any that they no longer deal svith any amendment or chang© of the Gonstitution of .the Commonwealth. "I think that the principles on which the Constitution is founded will last md wjll not require further amendment cor very many years. What South Africa contemplates is that we must bry to co-ordinate our policies of action, 3o that we can he mutually a$ helpful is possible " Referring to the European situation, General Hertzog said; "I feel that this jonference will be known more by what ve are going to achieve in the interests ff peac© and the maintenance of peace in the future than by anything else. South Africa feels and realises more and more how closely she is implicated in Europe's and the world' s fate. South Africa heartily appreciates the manner in which the xiritish Government has succeeded in steering through difficult times."
