EXPLOSION ON WARSHIP
H.M.S. Hunter Towed To Gibraltar (Eeceived 15, 10.0 a.m.) LONDON, May 14. A message from Yalencia 6ays that no light yet has been fhrown upon the explosion on H.M.S. Hunter. The hole in the hull has been patched to permit the vessel being towed to Gibraltar for exuert examination r The Havas Agency's Yalencia correspondent says that the Hunter 's hull shows marks where some projectile went right through. The Admiralty officially announces that the explosion occurred on the Hunter 's waterline while the vessel was on patrol for non-intervention purposes, adding that the cause is at present unknown. The Telegraph's Madrid correspondent says that Mr H* 0. Brooks, the British Oonsul at Alicante, has heen ordered to proceed to Almeria to interview the Hunter 's commander, Lieute-nant-Commander Scurfield, and report direct to the Foreign Office at London. The Times' Valencia correspondent says that a preliminary examination of the Hunter makes it certain that the explosion was due to an external cause.
