Successful Fair at Ormondville

ORMONDVILLE, Last Nigfit. Tfie Paddy's Market in aid of tfie funds of tfie Anglican Cfiurcfi was field on Friday afternoon. Mr H. P. Newling, cfiairman of tfie Town Board, tfianked tfie vestry for gdving fiim tfie privilege of opening the market. He said tfie people of tfie district ougfit to tfiank tfie clerk of tfie weather for giving .so fine a day. Tfiis ougfit to open tfie hearts of the, people to give very freely to tfie funds of the cfiurcfi. Tfie vicar was soon leaving, and was anxious to leave cfiurcfi finances in a good etate. Mr Newling tfien deelared tfie' market onen.

Stalls field by tfie dafferent centres in the parisfi were as follow: — Makotuku, cakes, jam and sweets; Ormondville, afternoon tea; Norsewood, fiandicrafts; Whetakura and Te Uri, produce; Matamau was in charge of a number of competitions, wfiicfi were very popular. ^ A number of guee'sing competitions of various kinds were dn progress. During the . evening . & . very popular dance was held, witfi a buffet supper, tfie nrnsic for wfiicfi was supplied by an amateur orcfiestra organised by Mrs D. Munro, tfie performers being Mr Studd( steel guitar), Mr Fritcfiley (mandolin), Mr Gordon Chapman (violin), Mr W-illis (Dannevirke) (piano-accordeon) and Mrs D. Munro (piano). During the evening the vicar took the opportunity of cordially thanking all tfiose who fiad given so generously, and helped eo loyally to make tfiis effort, not only one of tfie pleasantest affairs ever held in tfie district, but also so great a success financially.
