Collision In English Channel
(Received 10, 1.0 p.m.) RUGBY, May 9. The London steamer Willesden, 4563 tons, was badly holed in a collision with the Italian steamer Oianfraneo, 8181 tons, in a thiek fog in the Engjlish Channel, off Dover, early tliis morning, The Willesden was reported by her owners to be abandoned in a sinking condition off Dungeness and the Dover lifeboats launched, but the Wiljesden's crew, who had taken to the boats. were picked up by the British steamer Thistleglen, which stood by. After an unsuccessful attempt to beach the Willesden, two tugs arrived from Dover and the disabled vessel taken in tow. The Gianfranco proceeded on the journey to Bremen and the Willesden, whoss crew had eboarded her, was beached near Rye. ,
