LABOURERS' UNION
Napier Meeting The Lahourers' Federation convened a meeting of lahourers in Napier yesterday afternoon. There was an attendance of 20. Messrs. P. M. Butler and L. Glover, of the National Federatjon, addressed the meeting. Mr. Whitcome was elected to the chair. A resolutlon which had for its purpose the suspension of legal aetion. and ihe reference of the matters in dispute to the rank and "file for decision was lost, the voting being three for reference to the rank and file and four against. Those supporting the resolution were Messrs. H. McKee and C. Jennings. Among those opposing tho resolution were Messrs. E. Bellerhy, H. Kay and J. Cummings. Mr. Butler said to-day that the Wellington union and the federation stood for rank-and-file control. The Napier meeting would not by itself decide the issue, as meetings were being held in Waipawa and Dannevirke to-night and to-morrow night respectively. The Hastings aiembers had already endorsed rank-and-file control.
