Otane 's Coronation ball, which was held on Wednesday night in the Town" Hall, was an unqualified success, thero being a large and representative attendance, who spenfc a thoroughly enjoyable and happy time. The decorations, which were the artistic work of Mrs. Brian Williams and helpers, were most attractive and original and were carried out in a red, white and blue colour scheme. Numbers of large flags were used for, draping and intermingled with festooned streamers were clusters of coloured balloons, while humerous miniature Union Jacks were used to give an effective and appropriate finish. Excellent music was suppliea oy Mr Les Henry 's orchestra, and the duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr. J. MacDougall. A delicious supper was served, tho president, Mrs. E. H. Tod, and members of the Women 's Institute undertaking this arduous though seemingly not unpleasant task. Part of the supper-room was set aside for cards. and here a bridge tournament arranged by Mesdames J. Clark and E. H. White, was held, the winners being Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Clark. The dance was arranged by members of the various organisations in the town, and the proceeds are to be devoted towards extending the kitchen aeeommodation at the hall. The very satisfaetory financial results of the dance should enable the work to be shortly undertaken.
