WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. The engineer (Mr. R. B. Price) re portod to the monthly meeting of the Waipukurau- County Coancil as l'ollows: — Hatuma Riding: General work has been carried out in this riding in tho way of trimming and renioving shoulders on back ro-adis. SeveraJ. sliort culverts were lengthened where widening took place. The grader is worked oight days on riding roads and three an.d a half days on Main Highways ralting in shiugle. A small pipo culvert was plaeed ou the Waipukurau-Hatuma highway. Trucks are at present engaged on patching work on Maharakeke road which was in rough condition. This road will be trinimed up by the grader. Mount Herbert Riding: The unsealed seetion oi the Waipukurau-Porangahfln highway was patched and graded during a fihort wet spell, and the road iv? now in fine order, although verv bart; of metal, and it . may be necessary t-o treat it with a light running coat before the winter. The grader has raked in metal on all otlier roads in the riding. The sealing work on Racecourse road as held up owing to the ' contractor's inability to supply the correct class of chips. Puiimmu Riding: A fair amount of work has been put into the removal ot shoulderfl and attention to culverts during the month on all roads in tho southern end of the riding. Improvements have been carried out at Wh'itoparsons road as directed at the last meeting of the council.
