British Answer to Germany EXTENSIVE PURCHASES
(Eeceived 29,, 8.45 a.m.) EUGBY, April 28. In a speecb at Portsmouth last night, Sir Eobert Horne, a former Chancellor of the Exchequer, referred to Germany 's recent demand for the restoration of her former colondes. Dealing with German snggestions that the British Empire had become an exclusive unit, he recalled that last year Britain bought £32,000,000 worth of goods from Germany and on its part Germany bought only £21,000,000 worth from Britain. The Empire bought £54,000,000 from Germany, against £42,000,000 whieh Germany bought from the Empire. "There is no country that cduld better be described as a 'have -not' country than Great Britain. We do not control our Dominions. In getting foodetuffs and law materials from our Dominions we have to pay for them, and Germany can get them in exaetly the s&me way and by exaetly the saiae methods," Sir Eobert declared.
