A NEW CENTRAL Establishment of New Primary Area INTERMEDIATE QUESTION | The establishment of a new primary school in Hastings, .the intermediate school question and the rebuilding of the Oentral School, were among the matters discussed -by Mr G. A. MaddisOn, r.Tia.irma.Ti of the Hawke '8 Bay Education Board, with Ministers of the Crown and officers of the Education Department while in Wellington this week.
Mr Maddison said tMs morning that " he had again made overtures for the rebuilding of the Hastings Central School, this matter having been repeatedly before the department. "As a result of the representations I have been assured that a new school will be built of tbe very latest type," said Mr Maddison. "I also made very etrong representations for the establishment of a new . primary school in Hastings, ' ' he said. j "This matter has heen'on the urgency list for a number of years, and I" pointed out that it had received the approval of four different Ministers of Education, but despite this nothing had been accomplished. I have now been l asked to have plans prepared for con- * ' sideration with this year's estimates." Mr Maddison said that he anticipated that the department would indicate I very shortly its mtention to make a grant also for the proposed new school at Wainawa.
Mr Maddison said that he had discussed the question of an intermediate school in Hastings with the Director of Education, Mr N. T. Lambourne, and had extended an invitation to him to come to. Hastings and address members of the school committees on the sub- . jeet. "The invitation was favourably received," said Mr Maaaison, "and it is really now only a question .of arranging a suitahle date f or the director to come to this district."
