Mr. Allen told the Press Association that if "Coronation Commentary" was not withdrawn and an apology published an action would certainly follow. Messrs. Heinemanns admit that they have reeeived a demand. They say that the mafter is too delicate for them to make a statement. Mr. Dennis, who for many years was attached to the League Secretariat at Geneva, resigned to devote himself to literature. Mr Geoffrey P. Dennis, who is Editojand Cbief of Documentary Services at the League of Nations Secretariat, will arrive in New Zealand shortly to represent the League of Nations at the New Education Eellowship Conference. Mr Dennis5 s recent publication on the ex-King has attracted worldwide attention, as have many articles published in leading journals. He ia the author of numerous books, ineluding "Bloody Mary5a,55 "Sale by Auction,5' "The End of the World/5 "Harvest in Poland/5 etc. In contrast jfco the boidness of Mr Dennis5 s outspoken candour in his recent work, he is described as a reticent man with a strong objection to revealing details of his personal life, which has, to say the ieast, been one crammed with tragedy and adventure. Although he makes his home in Geneva, Mr Dennis was born at Barnstaple, Devon. After a childhood of poverty and office work as a boy he was "helped55 to Oxford, where he became a well-known figure. Here he took first-class honours in modern history with an M.A. degree, and became known as the fotmder of the Oxford Poetry Series, His career really commenced as schoohnaster at Walsall and coach for Oxford scholarships, but the World War decided his future. He served partly with the French Army from 1915 to 1919 and rose to the rank of captain. In 1920 he became an official of the League of Nations, serving for many years as head of the Interpreters and Translators5 Bureau, and was made editor and chief of the Documentary Services in 1931. Mr Dennis is visiting New Zealand for the express purpos© of placing the "League point of view55 before the New Education Fellowship Conference delegates.
