WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
„ Haumoana Group The monthly meeting of the Haumoana Women' s Institute was held on "Thursday afternoon. Despite some confusion caused by the alteration in date there was a fair attendance. Mem.bers wero asked to note the new date, the fourth Thursday in the month. Mrs McCarthy presided and several new members were elected. Mrs Thorburn and Mrs Castles were appointed delegates to the Federation meeting in Napier. Mesdames Jones and Helps, visitors, yho provided musio for folk dancing, also judged the competition, article made from a sugar bag. There was a very good entry of pair of curtains. !Mrs Baker (jun) was cushions, aprons and hassocks and a the winner of the cup for the conipetitions during the* year, Mrs Castles being second and Miss HaAvthorne tliird. Al'ter afternoon tea- a very happy time was spent in folk dancing, and an amusing competition, ' 'Peas on a Knife". A demonstration of hairpin , Avork was given by Mesdames Hag^ gerty, Boaler and Hawley, members being very interested in the beautiful articles sbown. Votes of thanks were passed to Mrs Jones. and the demonstrators.
