CENTRAL H.B. SUB-UNION'S MEETING

WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. A meeting of the Central Hawke 's Bay Rugby Sub-Union was held to night. Present: Messrs A. L, McCormick (ehairman), C. M. Williamson (secretary), R. S. Ricketts (Old Boys), E. G. Kedgley (Old Boys), W. Cuthbertson (Takapau), A, W. Parsons (Porangahau), G. Yoyce (Otane), R. O. Sharpe (Te Aute), J. Fergus&n (Onga), G. Harvey (Omakere), J. French (Tikokino), W. J. Phillips (Referees' Association), V, Parsons (Educational • Institute), B. L. Wallis, Y. L. King and N. Paulsen. The ehairman welcomed Messrs A. W. Parsons, representing te Porangahau Club, and V. Parsons, representing the C.H.B. Educational Institute, to, the meeting. A letter was received from the newlyformed Porangahau Club, applying for aflUiation to tho eub-union. — The chair man said that he had been in touch with tho Porangahau Club, and it was understood that Waipukurau would be the team's home grounds. On a motion by Mr A. L. McCormick, seeonded by Mr R. 1). Sharpe, it was deeided to ae^ept the Porangahau Club's affiliation to the sub-union. Mr A. W. Parsons, the team's delegate to the sub-union, said that the team was prepared to travel, but he would, like to see some teams make the trip to Porangahau so as to help football in that ■district. It was deeided to, play two rounds senior football. An amendment by.Mr J. Ferguson that the clubs be graded as senior A and senior B in the second round was withdrawn. Mr R. S. Ricketts 's motion that the duration of the eecond round be iixed.at the conclusion of the first round was carried. Third Grade Teams. Six third grade teams were afiiliated as follows: Te Aute (2), Takapau, Waipawa, Waipukurau aud Waipukurau l)is trict High Schools. ' The. ehairman said that.it had been a very good response, and he moved that third grade competition he played, to commenee on Saturday, May 1. Mr Y. Parsons said that the High School would not field a team until the% in: fantile paralysi3 ban was lifted. It was then deeided to have the opening games a week later and to play two rounds. A suggestion by Mr E. G. Kedgley that a third -grade rcpresentative team be seleeted later on in the season was held'over till the next meeting. Mr Y. Parsons was eleeteci third grade selector. Te Aute B team has deeided to play third grade football, instead of junior, as bad previously been arranged. Takapau B have afiiliated as a junior club since the, last meeting of the sub-union. Mr G. Yoyce said that there wa3 a prospect of Otane fielding a junior team. On a motion by Mr R. S. Ricketts', it was deeided that the Te Aute-Takapau B match, which shoiild have taken place on April 17, be played at the clcee of the junior competition. • Following a discussion as to whether the third gro and at Central Park was in playing orde'r, A. W. Parsons offered to prepare the ground. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr N. Paulsen for a donation to the funds of the sub-union.

Fixtures for Saturday The fixtures for Saturday, April 24. . are as follow:— Senior. — ^Porangahau v. Otane, at Central Park; Old Boys v. Omakere, at Central Park; Waipukurau v. Tikokino, at Tikokino; Ongaonga v. Takapau, at Ongaonga; Te Aute a byo. Junior.— Takapau A v. Te Aute, at Takapau; Old Boys v. Takapau B, at Central Park; Waipukurau v. Waipawa, at Waipawa. - The Otane team to me'et Porangahau at Waipukurau is as follows:— R. Drinkrow, Panapa, S. Drinkrow, Smith, Pene, Riach, Tolley, Higgs, Anderson, Orr, Burgess, Beale, Wright, Osborne, Grean; emergencies, Ross, Belliss, Hislop, Benson, Spargo, Stephens.
