Waipukurau Borough Finances

WAIPUKURAU, Last Niglit. Speaking on the annual report and balance sheet presented to the AVaipugurau Borough Council last night, the Mayor, Mr I. W. W. Mackie, said that the statement showed a very satisfactory position and the ratepayers should be well satisfied. He felt that particular credit should be given to the •town clerk to whose efiicient service the favourable position was lai'gely ciue. Cr McCarthy added that special credit was due to the town clerk for the expeditious and thorough way in which he had prepared the balance sheet and the way in which this had been done spoke volumes for the efficiency of his work. Tlie accounts showed a total credit for the year ended March 31 of £5362 1/5, as compared with £3805 18/9 for the 1936 period. Tlie general account was in credit £1561 5/6, as against £639 7/4.
