R.S.A. Reunion Postponed

WAIROA, This Day. The Anzac meeting and re-union of exservicemen, arranged for May 12, has now been postponed in order nob to clash with the general Coronation celebrations. * , Poppy Day. The 21st anniversary of the formation of the Returned Soidiers' Association is to be celebrated in Wairoa by a vigorous house-to-house canvass for the sale of poppies. Infantile Paralysis. Beyond the admission of another case of infantile paralysis from Nuhaka, a Maori boy of 2J years, there is no further news to report except that the vjctims in hospital qontinue to do well. Sudden Death. The community got a shock cn Monday morning when it was reported that Mr J. F. Hird, a well-known Wairoa settler, aged 34 years, liad been found dead in bed at his residence at North Clyde with a number of wounds in his throat. It is understood the deceased had been in bad health for some time, and only returned t0 Wairoa a week ago from the Napier Hospital. Laboratory Work. In order to save time in sending to Wellington to get needed laboratory tests made, the Wairoa Hospital Board has an agreement with the Cook Hospital staff to carry ont this work, and the arrangement lias just been confirmed. Settler Farewelled. Mr Theo Brown, a prominent bowler, who leaves this week for his new location at Blenheim, was farewelled at the club-house during the wefek-end. He was presented with a liandsome leather suitcase, the president, Mr J. S. Wilson, making some very eulogistic remarks on his performances as a bowler, and one they were all sorry to lose. . The recipient made a suitable reply.
