Takapau Defeat Waipukurau by Narrow Margin
From
WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. On the Mt. Vernon range during the week-end a teams' shoot was held by the Waipukurau and Takapau Defence Rifle Clubs (7 shots 300, 500 and 600 yards). Conditions for shooting were perfect at 300 and 500 yards, but resuming after lnncheon to fire 600 yards range a glaring sun with a fishtail wind made shooting very difficult Nevertheless some good scores were registered. At 500 yards Rifleman McVicar gained a possible on the day, and Rifleman R. Ellis, of Takapau, top scored with 101, which was a very fine performance under the conditions. The shoot resulted in Takapau winning by the narrow margin of 3 points Details
