Telegraoh-

PALMERSTON N. Last Night. The agitation by owners of petrol j bowser stations to prevent dairy com- : panies from operating, was the subject of comment at yesterday 's meeting of the executhe of the Manawatu .and West Coast Dairy Companies' Assoeiation, when it was explained that the only purpore for which companies installed puiaps was so that suppliers

could get the benefit of petrol at some- ! thing like eost price. The secretary (Mr H. R. Spencer) said it was going th give company secretaries a great deal of extra work if the object of the agitation was to •' -mahe companies sell at the usual retati rate. Mr R. Craig: If we had to charge the ruling rate, it would mean the distribution of prpfits over all suppliers and ,that would be unfaxr as one man might take a lot of benzine and another none at all. The seCretary said the difficulty could be easily overcomo by making it illegal •for dairy companies to suppiy ontsiders under a heavy penaity. Mr S. E. Algar contended that tho petrol sellers had a just compiaint if outsiders were being supplied. Mr Craig moved that eo-operative companies be allowed to fix the price of benzine sold to their own snppliers but that saies to non-suppliers be at the rate fixed for the particular district. Mr Algar seconded and the motion was carried. It will be forwarded to the Minister. of Industries and Commerce.
