The new minister of the Methodist Church in Waipawa, Rev. S. Keen, accompanied by Mrs Keen, arrived in Waipawa yesterday. The Rev. R. J. Liddell, Methodist minester at Dannevirke for the past two years, left yesterday by car for the Avondale circuit, * Auckland, a£companied by his daughter," Miss Eunice Liddell. He was farewelled at a large gathering on Tuesday evening, when tributes were paid to his work and he was presented with an address. Mr T. Jackson, whose engagement as senior clerk and cashier with the Dannevirke Borough Council terminated on Tuesday, was presented with a suitable gift by the town clerk, Mr G. T, O'Hara Smith, on behalf of the inside staff. Mr O'Hara Smith expiessed warm appreciation of Mr Jackson' s capable services during the three years he had occupied the responsible position and conveyed to bi'ru. best wishes for his future success. Mr Jackson rtiade appropriate acknowledgement, thanking the _ town clerk fbr his remarks and mentioning the happy relations that had always existed- among the staff. Mr A. McDonald and family have returned to Pongaroa after a brief visit to Woodville. The Rev- P. Wiltshire, Pongaroa, was a reoeqt visitor to Christchurch. Miss M. Kent, and Miss B. Johnston have returned to Pongaroa after a six weeks' holiday in Nelson. Mr C. A. Gallagher, stationmaster at Waipukurau, left for Napier yesterday on annual leave. Mr F. P. Townsend is reKeving bim. Mr L. Mathie, of the Waipukurau staff of the New Zealand Railways, left for Dunedin yesterday on annual leave. Pr. South, of - Waipawa, who last week had a severe set-back to his recovcry afte: his recent operation, i® now piogressing favourably. Mrs Y. Patterson, of Waipawa, who recently had the misfortune to cut her right fcot badly through falling over the blado of a scythe, is making good progress in the District Hospital, but it will be eome time before she is about again. Mr E. C. Hurdsfield, senior agricultural instructor to the Hawke's Bay Education Board, left for Gisborne yesterday where he • will be resident for two monxhs doing special instructional WGrk wiv-h the schools there. 4
