STORTFORD VALUES Prime Quality Up to 10/- a Head Easier PLAIN LOTS 15/- CHEAPER Values to-day were easier for practically all classes of fat cattle at Stortford Lodge. Prime quality lines were up to 10/- a head easier, wkile unfinfehed plain lots of cows especially were fully 15/- a head down. The yarding consisted of 200 statiom-bxed lines, there being a smaller percentage of prime lot* than in last week'* yarding. In tke ox beef peni the outstanding draft was on account of tke Te Aute College of purebred Aberdeen Angus bullocks wkich kad been solidly finisked for montks and came forward in exeellent order, tke heaviest topping tke market at £12 *17/6. Tkese pexis met witk keen bidding, wkick was not in evidence for otker offerings of quite well-finisked lots. Some of tke pens could have been held . until the winter witk advqntage if sufficient feed should be available. In tke female sections butchers were provided with a wide range : of ' quality, Cowe predominated and many of tkese were aged and plain finisked with att absence of quality. The selling for these was slow and sticky owing to the butchers showing no desire to operate, with tke result tkat several lots were passed. In tke female section tke best quality was in tke pens of heifers, wkick reached to £8 15/-. Last week giTm1a.r quality exceeded tke £9 mark. "Some very prime young sorts were offered, being ckiefly small to medium gr'oWn and ideal. butchers' quality. A few, pens off tke Moteo Swamp were in exeellent order, being* very attrae* tive. Realisations were as under:— OX BEEF RATES, On account of Te Aute College, four v well-bred Aberdeen Angqs mediumweigkt bullocks, solidly finisked, kaving been well fattened for montks, made to £12 17/6. Tkese bullocks were of exceptional quality, being in unusually prime eondition and skoiild kill out at about 8501bs. Also from Te Aute College, three eimilarly-bred bullocks, rather ligkter tkan tke previous- pen, but of the same exeellent quality and finisk, sold at £12. The final* pen of Te Aute College young similarly-bred bullocks, being tke lightest in tke draft, but of exceptional quality, being in splendid order, realised £10 12/6. • An entry of three medium to heavy Aberdeen Angns-Hereford . cross bullocks, well finisked and of useful outckers' weight, was passed at £11. Tkree medium to keavy horned Here* ford bullocks, well finisked, showing prime quality, were passed at £11 10/-« On account of tke Moteo Station, four medium-weigkt .prime Skortkorn oullocks, solidly finisked, made to £11 2/*. From tke same source, a further pen o f Skorthorns, in similar order and quality to the previous pen, but a skada ligkter, sold at £10 15/-. HEIFER VALUES. A pen of four well-framed, heavy, clean-bred Aberdeen Angus heifers, be* ing good bodies of beef and in prime order, made to £8 16/-. An entry of four 30-month Aberdeen Angus cross heifers, 'in splendid order, being first-class butchers' quality, aver* aging about 5251bs., made to £7 12/6. An exceptionally prime mediumweigkt Hereford keifer of outstanding quolity made £8 15/*. Two "small to medium-framed, primequality Aberdeen Angus heifers; well done, made £7 13/-. On account of Mr D. N. Tiffen, Otane, two dekornsd Hereford heifers, small to medium-framed and showing prime quality, made £7 7/6. CpW BEEF PRICES, In from Poukawa, five young, small Hereford cows, medium finisked, sold to £6 16/-. In from Puketapu, two fairly heavy, aged, plain-finisked Shorthoro cows were passed at £7. Four aged, medium to heavy Hereford cows, carrying quite a lot of condition, but of rather plain quality, were passed at £7 - 5/-. An entry of aged Skortkorn cows, medium to heavy and solidly finisked, . sold to £8. A pen of four clean-bred, heavy Aberdeen Angus cows, in prime order, being well finished, sold to £8 6/-, PRIGES FOR WEANERS. An entry of eight weaners, varying in size, being in good order and well covered witk calf fat, made to £3 17/6.
