RUAKITURI
A meeting of the Ruakituri Women' s Institute was held on Sat(urday. Mrs Berry, the president, was in the cliair, and there was a good attendance. Tlie members were. glad to welcome Miss Ellison, a visitor from Western . Australia. . After the usual business, voteg of fch'anks were passed to Mr W. Berry i'dr the gift of a book-case, Mr N. Thompson for making tlie frames and setting the fire-shreen, and to Miss Ree Spenee for typing the programme for the year. "Mrs Neil Thompson was ehosen as delegate to the Boverty Bay Federation Council meeting on April 23. Miss L. Spence read an article from Home and Country wliieli was niuch appreciated by the members. There were not mqny original ideas for the rol!call, "Uses of Stale Bread," but e\ery member respondecj. Miss Ellison gave a ehort but very interesting address on her home country. Th© amusement, a cat embroidered on calico in a few minutes, gave some very artistic and original likenesses of cats. Miss L. Spence was awarded first prize, Miss M. Spence second and Mrs Evans third. The monthly competition was for the best article made of cretonne. Miss Spence was first with tbe darning-bag. Trs hostesses for tbe day were Mrs S. Spence and Mrs Winder.
