WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

Rissington Meeting The Rissington Women' s Institute has had two meetings recently. The annual meeting, which wks purely a business meeting, resulted in tlie following being appointed to the committee : Miss Spenoe, president ; Mesdames Mines and J. klcLean, vieepresidents ; Miss Youren, secretary ; Mrs Worduard, treasurer; and Mesdames Tollison, Williams and Hughes. The April meeting was lield in the hall, the president presiding over a good attendance of members and visitors. Nominations were called for .two delegates . to attend the Northern Hawke's Bay Federation annual meeting. Mrs Mulqueeury and Mrs J. McLean were appointed to attend. Mrs Lovell-Smith was the speaker Jor the afternoon, and spoke on the life of Mr Harold Williams, a prominent New Zealander. Her talk proved most interesting, and she was warmly thanked for her instructive talk. The roll-calt was: Prominent JNTew Zealanders and why they were prominent. It brought forth some very good answers." Miss Spencer was presented with a beautiful pink bouquet of flowers. She was also asked to' accept a -beautiful iced eake with her own name and O.B.E. inscribed on it. The cake was mad© by Mrs Todd and iced by Mrs Mulqueeury. Both members received uiuch praise. Tlie • eake was cut by "liss Spence and handed round at afternoon tea. The Misses Peddles were the hostesses.
