MOTHER-OF-PEARL SATIN FOR BRIDE'S GOWN
HEENEY — CHRISTIAN WEDDING Michaelmas daisies and scarlet flowers artistically combined, formed. the attractive setting . in. St. Patrick's Church, Palmerston North, on Saturday afternoon for the marriage of Lydia Lawler, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs E. C. Christian, and John Raymond, son of Mr Hugh Heeney and the late Mrs Heeney, of Hast:ngs. Rev. Father D. Bourke, of Miramar, performed the ceremony and Miss C. Bait'ett played the wedding music. Durmcr the siguing of the register, Miss Mo'i^ Diederich sang "Ave Maria.'' The bride was escorted by Mr 15. Cross, and wore a graceful gown oi niofclicr-of-pearl satin. The c-orsage was shirred and had a square shoulder effect, the skirt being fashioned on classical lines finishingj in a long scalloped train, the scallops emphasised with knife pleating. Her filmy tulle veil was in the same mother-of-pearl tirit and she carried a sheaf of cream nerines and gladioli. In attendance as matron of honour, was Mrs J. Albon, of Epsom, Auckland, cousin of the bride, also Miss Rlioda Christian, sister of the bride, and Miss Evelyn Heeney, of Hastings, sister of the bridegroom. Their frocks were of mother-of-pearl spotted net. Valenciennes lace trimmed the bodices and sleeves and the full skirts had true lovers' knots and circlets of searlet flowei's. They wore quaint Juliet caps with halos of scarlet flowers and gold'leaves and carried sheafs of scarlet nerines and valotta lilies. Mr J. Martin, of Hastings, was best man, Mr Arthur Christian of Wellington. brother of the bride, and Mr C. Kemp. of Hastings, were g]foomsmen. About ninety guests, many of whom had come from Hastings, were later weicomed at a reception by Miss J. Hume. wlio wore a becoming frock of navy suede crepe with georgette sleeves stuclded with silver and hat to match, h.er posy being of deep cream and autumn tonings. When the bride and bridegroom left by car on a tour of the North Island. bhe bride travelling in a smart henna ansemble with astrakan collar and mffs, her hat, gloves and shoes to bone. Mr and Mrs. Heeney will make their new home in Wellington.
