WAIPUKtJRAO; This Day. The Mount Herbert Golf . Links, Waipukurau held the opening during the week-end in ideal weather. The following clubs were represented: Maraenui, Havelock, Parkvale, Takapau, Waipukurau, Ormondville, Waipawa-, Porangahau and Wallingford, and over 100 players took part in the competition. It was generally agreed that this was the club's best opening to date, and there was much favourable comment on the condition of the course, and the general facilities of the ciub. The pre-' sident, Mr J. H. Hcpkinson, opened the links and called upon Miss J. Mackenzie, ladies president, to drive the first ball. The best cards banded in were : — Mrs Cross and Watkins 62 Mrs Bendeich and McRae 62 Mrs McRae and Bliss 63 Mrs Ward and McDonald 63 Mrs Urquhart and Gray 64 Mrs Given and Carlson 68 Mrs Cutforth and Ellingham 69 Miss Cato and Hewald 70 Mrs Murphy and.Ropata 70
