CONFLICTING POLICIES
County System Reorganisation "Two conflicting policies," are referred to by the committee of the New Zealand Counties' Assoeiation lh its report of a meeting. on March 19 last, when consideration was given to the question of reorganisation of the county system of control of districts. Betails of the committee' s report have been forwarded to the Hawke's Bay County Council and were made available to councillors this morning. Th» Counties' Assoeiation adopted a resolution to the effect that "as the policy of the Minister of Public Works in county reorganisation clearly indicates the disintegration of the county system, and that of the Minister of lnternal Affairs amalgamation with the view oi ereating bigger and more satiafactory local government units, the executive inquire fronii the Prime Minister, before the assoeiation further considers the problem of amalgamation, which of the two conflicting policies is the one that the Government intenda to pursue." "The point Is," said Cr. W. Tucker this morning, "that the Minister of Public Works is gietting busy, so to speak, to assume all control, while the Minister of lnternal AffairS wants us to have all the control."
