£5000 Advance to Council ACTION APPRECIATED The Main Highways Board is to receive the thanks of the Hawke's Bajr Gounty Couucil .for its decision to advance £5000 for the carrying out of a bitumen-sealing programme. The chairman, Mr F. B. Logan, explained to to-day 's meeting of the council that this advance would enable the council to carry out its programme of s ealing of 16 miles during the coming season. The money had -been loaned for a period of three years and a generous gesture had been made to the council. It may be possible for the council to repay the amount well within the period for which it has been loaned. Cr. C. C. Smith pointed out that this advance would greatly assist the linances of the, council.
