The Mayor said he had been approached by Constable Moss with Tef erence to the danger of accidente at the intersection of Waverley and Ruataniwha streets caused by the parking of motor vehicles tight on the corner. A vehiele parked in f ront of the premises occupied by Mrs Bond would completely obscure the view of anyone cbming from the bridge into Waverley street. He suggested that a section of the road from the corner of Rose street to a point near the bakehouse in Waverley street be declared a no-parking' area. It was stressed that there was no danger in parking on the opposite side of Ruataniwha street next Coronation Park. Mr Barker suggested that motorists were in the habit of taking the corner too fast, and that a speed limit shpuld be imposed. Mr Eagle said he was in agreement with the proposals of the Mayor. Mr Limbrick moved that the area referred to be declared a no-parking area. This was seconded by Mr Furminger, who also suggested that the Automobile Associatioh be requested to place a sign near the stoek road, indicating.a bend. Mr Limbrick inquired as to the position in respect of speed limit signs authorised to be secured some time ago. The clerk stated that an order had been placed for the proper signs.
