Taradale's Birthday

The monthly meeting of the Greenmeadows brancb of the Women's Institute was held in the hall on Tuesday afternoon. As it was the oecasion of the second birthday a large number of members and visitors were p.esent. Mrs Martin, the prea:dent, weli-omed the visitors, especially members of the Taradale Institute. •Business was quickly dealt with, al'ter which Mrs Scott gave a talk, the first of a series ixt tho Goklen Thread. Mrs Scott appropriately chose I'or her subject,- "Queen

Mary." Throughout the year, various j members will choose a famous woman, j past or present and give a talk about her. The gaine of "Pairs of Articles/' was won hy Mrs Badley, Taradale. After this the drama circle entortained. First there was a sketch by Mrs Scott, and acted by Mesdames Scott, Wight and Goodal. Another playette written by Mrs Martin ' was acted by Mesdames Howarth and Toucher Miss Joy Burton entertained at the piano. Later, Miss Joy Burton handed the knife to Mrs Wilson, who cut the birthday cake. Mrs Badley, on behalf of the Taradale Institute, wished Greenmeadows Institute a very happy future.
