WALLINGFORD GROUP
The April meeting of the Wallingford Women 's Institute was held at Wallingford ,on Thursday afternoon, Mrs. J . D. Ormond presiding over an attendanee of 26 members and several visitors. The delegates' gave an excelient resume of the Federation meeting held recently in Waipukurau. - Mrs. Ormond then introduced Miss M. McHardy, District Commissioner, who gave an interesting and instruetive talk on the Girl Guides, their origin and aetivities, afterwal'ds showing how some of the Guide games taught them to think and aCt quickly. At the con;elusion, Miss Mcliard^ was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The resuits of the competitions for the day, judged by Miss McHardy were: — Best coileetion of flowers, grown by exhibitor, Mrs. S. Ward 1, Mr?. Wooster 2, Mrs. R. Stoddart 3. Prettiest bouquet, Mrs. Ormond 1, Miss Ormond 2, Mrs. Dav6y 3 Best article made from old stoekings, Mrs. S. Ward 1, Mrs. C. Ward 2„ Mrs. Wooster 3. A mueh appreciated afternoon tea was dispensed by Mesdames J. McDonald, A. ~Wall, A. Judd, G. MeLeod. Misses Connell-y and J. Ormond.
