fFrom
PORANGAHAU, Last Night. The annual general meeting of the Porangahau branch of the New Zealand Farmers ' Union was held on Monday evening. There was a fair attendance. Mr O'Reilly gave an interesting account of the farmers' visit to the Smedley Estate last month. The election of oiikers resulted: — Chairman, Mr M. Davidson; vice-chair-men, Messrs Clifton and Wall; hon. secretary, Mr F. Jackson. Mr O'Reilly brought forward a suggestion that the Porangahau branch join in with the Central Hawke's Bay branches in forming a sub-provincial centre at Waipukurau. — It was left to Mr Clifton to make inquiries and diseuss the question with the branches concerned. Topdressing was the subjeet of an interesting discussion during the latter part of the evening, which was brightened by interesting and in some cases humorous accounts of members' experiences. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair.
