OHURAKURA—TE POHUE
The* monthly meeting was held on Friday, April 2, after the readingj of the aspirations members were delighted with a talk about Japan by Mrs Baird, Hastings, who was accorded a heartv vote of thanks. The "home competitions resulted: — ■ Article from skein of wool: Mesdames Adsett 1, Atkihs 2 and King 3. Some competitors were disqualified for embroidering their exhibits. Lemon honey: Mesdames Atkins 1, Brookes .2, Elliott 3. Some very inspiring verses wero recited during the roll call. The potato
competition resulted in a win for Mrs Hughes with 421b. The • community layette was discuss ed and the work allotted to the various members. It was also arranged .to hold a sewing afternoon towards the end of the month, ail members are invited to attend. Owing to tlie resiguation of Miss* Julian, Mrs Elliott was appointed secretary. Both Mrs Elliott and Miss Julian were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for serviees rendered during the past. The hostesses, Mesdames Johnson. Havord and Hughes served a" dainty afternoon tea, and a very pleasant afternoon closed with the singing of .the JNationa.1 Anthem.
