Very Good Exhibition of Flowers

OMAKERE, This Day. The autumn show of the Omakere Women 's Institute was held after the usual monthly busi:-c..j was completed at the hall last Thursday, Mrs. Aitken presiding over a very small attendance. After the singing of the Institute song, business was quickly dealt with. A very good show of flowers was on $xhibition, and the following pr'iaes were awarded: — Deeorative section:- — Miss M. Kittow 1, Mrs. Forbes McHardy 2. Asters and zinias, Mrs. Brinson. Marigolds, Mrs. Geo. Williams. Dahlias, Mrs. Aitken. Other flowers, Mrs. Nairn 1, Mrs. Birdsal] 2. Cooking:— -Cream puffs, Mrs. Baskerville i, Mts. Brinson 2. Gingerbread, Mrs. Rowe 1, Mrs. Norris 2. Savouries, Miss Allison 1, Mrs. Rowe 2. Mrs. Disbrowe, a visitor, judged the flowers, and Mrs. Bull the cooking, and both judges spoke briefly, dealing chiefly with' the reasons why they awarded tlie diflerent prizes. A . dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses for the afternoon, Mesdames Kittow and McLeod. Tho afternoon closed with the National Anthem.
