DUNEDIN, Last Night. The inticnation by the Acting-Minie* fer of Marketing, the Hon. W. Le* Martin, that the alteration in th* method of wholesale bacon-selling will result in a reduction of .the New Zealand Bacon Curers ' Association'* present wholesale selling.pxices, is con«(
sidered by local cux-ers and retailers a* misleading, so far as Otago is con cerned. They maintain that the pricC of bacon in Otago, in fact, in the whole of^the South Island, will have to b* increased. The position is that bacon prices in the North Island have been considerr ably higher than those ruling in th* South Island, and the official statement is.therefore only applicahle ito th* North Island. Local curers are at pre* sent making representations to the D» partment of Internal Marketing and are not prepared to make any comaxent on the matter until the Acting-Minister has clarified the position.
