riremen Meet. At a fully attended meeting oi the Waipukurau Fire Brigade, preisided over by Superintendent J. A. Chambers, Foreman A. S. Annand reported on the proceedings at the United Fire Brigades' annual conference at Nelson. Fireman H. Scherf reported on the Waipukurau team's • demonstration work. Sub-Superintendent J. V. RichaTds and Superintendent Chambers both congratulated the team on ils fine work at" Nelson. The team gave the prize money it Ead won, amounting to some £10 10/-, to brigade funds. Foreman Annand and Fireman R. Spotswood prefsented the brigade with photos taken during the demonstration and conference. Concert at "San.'» Patients at the Pukeora Sanatorium were entertained by a concert party from Waipukurau, organised by Mr P. Donnelly. Songs were rendered by Mrs R. MeD. Scott, Messrs C. R. Watson, C. A.. Wadman, and J. F. Cook, & Aute solo by Mr F. Heasman, orchestxal items by the following: Misses Hepburn, King and Mathieson, Messrs V. Carpenter, J. Russell R. Hanrjson, P. Donnelly. A community sing was conducted by Mr C. R. Watson. Supper was served by the matron and staff. Rugby Refereea Meet At the annual meeting of the Central Hawke's Bay Rugby Referees' Association the following officers were elected: Patron, Mr R. A. Fraser; president, Mr C. M. Williamson; vicepresidents, Messrs B. L. Wallis, P. R. Smyrk, A. C. Holms, J.P., A. - McCormiek, H. Carr and F. Polhill; hon. secretary, treaBurer, and delegate to ihe sub-union, Mr W. J. Phillips; hon. auditor, Mr C. R. Watson; delegate to the annual conference of the New Zeaiand Rugby Referees' Assoeiatioh, Mr C. Woodward; appointment board for representative flxtures Messrs C. M. Williamson, W. J. Phillips and A. C. HolmS; appointment board fOr champibnship games, Messrs C. M. Williamson and W. J. Phillips. Patangata Golf. The opening of the Patangata links took plaee in perfect weather. A large number of visitors took part in1 a mixed Canadian foursome, and a most enjoyabl'e game was played. The winners, with a net score of 70, were Miss E. White and,Mr. Logan. The president, Mr. E. T. Wilder, during the afternoon tea adjournment, weleomed the visittors, Mr. Strang, Waipawa, replying. The ' trophies for this mateh, also the men's junior championship challenge cup were donated by Mr. Stan Kittow.
